GV Chile 2019

What would your life be like if you gave a little bit? You don’t have to give everything, but maybe you could give a little bit more of your time, your money, your knowledge, your encouragement to help someone else. How would your giving affect the lives of those in your family, neighborhood, community, country—the world? It’s a heartwarming exercise to consider the possibilities.

What do you have that you can give away?

Global Village volunteers give a little bit, or a lot, of their resources to help families in need of adequate shelter, something most of us take for granted. Perhaps the greatest reward in giving is that we have room to receive. In spades we receive! Friendship, love, affection, good feelings and great memories…

My teammates often remark that they get involved to give back, but what they don’t expect is that they return home with so much more. It’s these intangibles that form the bedrock of our motivation to continue to give. Let’s face it. It feels good! It brings joy and satisfaction to accomplish a purpose within yourself, not necessarily for yourself.

It’s the law of reciprocity. Reaping and sowing. And when we all come together—volunteers, staff, homeowners, neighbors, friends and family—we have a whole lot of fun doing this giving and receiving thing.

The next time someone gives a little bit of their love to you, give a little bit of your life to them.
