HFHI Global Village, Quezon City, Manila, Philippines – Filipino Fruits

One interesting aspect of our weekend adventure was stopping at the fruit stands and buying some new things to try. Probably the most bizarre is the durian, beloved by many in Southeast Asia. It is a large fruit with a hard and spiky outer shell. It has a strong smell that makes it hard to get past your nose to give it a try.  Andrew bought one to give it a go, but unfortunately, ours wasn’t ripe and we had a hard time cutting into it. Of course the benefit to being unripe was that it didn’t emit its unmistakable foul odor. What we did taste actually wasn’t bad.

Oh what joyous wonders await the eager and inquisitive traveler.

(I am having a tough time uploading the videos, but will give it a go again…check back!)
